High in the alpine meadows of Bajura district sits Badimalika Temple, dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati and considered one of Nepal's most powerful Shakti Peeths. Unlike Nepal's more commercialised pilgrimage sites, Badimalika is still reached the old way — on foot, through forest and open ridgeline, with the reward of the shrine itself and sweeping views in every direction.
The Trek
Our standard package runs 4 nights / 5 days, combining a long approach drive into Bajura with several days of trekking:
- Day 1: Drive into Bajura to the trailhead
- Day 2: Trek to high camp through forest and meadow
- Day 3: Reach Badimalika and perform darshan at the summit shrine; return to camp
- Day 4: Descend toward the roadhead
- Day 5: Drive back; trip ends
Difficulty
Expect a moderate trek with sustained daily walking and a genuine, if not extreme, altitude gain. There's no technical climbing, but trail conditions in this remote district can vary, and this is not a trek to underestimate simply because it's shorter than Api Himal or Khaptad. Basic trekking fitness and proper footwear matter here.
Why Pilgrims Come
Badimalika draws devotees from across Sudurpaschim and increasingly from Kathmandu and India, especially around major festival dates, when the trail sees far more foot traffic and the shrine hosts special pujas. Outside festival season, you may have long stretches of trail — and the summit itself — almost to yourself.
What's Included
Transport, camp/lodge accommodation, all meals, and a guide with the relevant permits. Personal trekking gear, travel insurance and tips are not included — this is currently priced for Nepalese nationals.
